With Jackie’s passion for scent work and strong teaching skills, I highly recommend her as an Instructor for K9 Nose Work®. Jackie will ensure that both human and dog learn the skills required for a good foundation in the sport and at the same time make sure her students are having fun with their dog. Jackie is a great help and inspiration for me as I continue on in my own nose work journey. I wish her all the best as a Certified Nose Work Instructor.

Joanne Lavalley-

After 30 years of having companion dogs, I managed to end up with 2 reactive dogs. My working English Springer, Stella, was starting to become aggressive toward her housemate, Charlie, and also toward dogs in off leash parks or just generally on walks. Searching for individual solutions for advanced training I learned of Jackie and My Dog Nose and decided to give it a try. It has been a game changer for Stella. She absolutely loves nose work but better than that, she is a happy and content dog doing what she was born to do. No longer do we have inter-dog problems at home but as well, she does not react to dogs in the outside world. She is not ever going to love new dogs but the reactivity has just vanished as long as everyone has their space. It is rewarding to see Stella gain optimism and be able to work in a rewarding environment. Charlie will be starting in the next round and I am excited to see how it helps him to gain confidence and optimism in a fun and relationship building sport. Jackie does a great job at explaining the concepts, leading us to successful outcomes and encouraging the dogs and the human handlers. It’s fun to watch and participate in and I am happy to recommend Jackie’s program.

Our Nose work journey didn’t start with Jackie but we are so glad to have crossed paths with her and to continue under her guidance. Jackie exudes confidence, knowledge, enthusiasm and best of all a great rapport with my dogs. My girl can be quite reactive and protective over me but Jackie has won her over and she is progressing more than I ever dreamed she could❤️

Nose work with Jackie is our “happy place” and we’re looking forward to much more learning and fun!!!

Jackie’s positive and enthusiastic attitude to Nosework has made our training sessions fun and rewarding.

Jackie is always searching out new and exciting locations for our training sessions.

Our Nosework journey has resulted in forming strong bonds with our furry partners.

Marina-

I wanted to find an activity that Jada and I could do together to strengthen our bond, challenge her brain and channel her energy in a safe environment.  Watching her focus on tracking the scent while I pay attention to her subtle cues, it is obvious she is enjoying the search and gaining confidence each week as the degree of difficulty increases.   Jackie’s knowledge of dog behaviour, sense of humour and nose work experience make learning this sport interesting and fun for both of us and I look forward to future classes.

When I made the move to Parksville and started a Nose Work community like I had on the Lower mainland in 2011, I was watching my students very carefully as I wanted someone I could mentor who would eventually teach classes themselves. It didn’t take me long to know that Jackie was that person. She really understands how much all dogs benefit from Nose Work when they get to lead the search. Jackie also understands how important it is to build a dog’s confidence slowly and carefully while at the same time helping the owners understand the scent picture so that they can fully support their dog. Jackie co-taught with me for a number of class sets at various levels and then did the training and became a Certified Nose Work Instructor herself. She is committed to continuing her journey of growth in this fabulous sport and her students rave about her! If her classes are full, get on her wait list. It will be worth it!

Jackie makes the classes fun for both dogs and owners. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is the biggest cheerleader for your success. She genuinely wants you and your dog to succeed and that lifts the mood, removes the pressure and makes everything easier. It’s always more enjoyable when your instructor has a good sense of humour and Jackie most definitely has one. You’ll have a great time and learn a lot.

Jackie is a brilliant Nosework teacher. Her primary focus is the dogs and for them to have fun! The dogs LOVE doing Nosework! She teaches a good foundation, so if needed you can go back and correct any problems, this is so important. She teaches us the handlers, how to be with our dogs, encouraging and happy. She teaches you to see the signs your dog gives you, and how odour moves. She helps build the handlers confidence. Jackie is straightforward and has a great sense of humour. She does Intro to Nosework and Intro to Odour and Continuing. I would highly recommend Jackie if you are interested in doing Nosework with your dog.
